Chuck Costner for County Commissioner

I still live within 3 miles of my childhood home, and have spent my life working and raising my family here in Gaston County.  A love for this country, Gaston County, and my family led to my decision to run for Gaston County Commissioner.

My wife Candy and I have five wonderful children. We live on a farm in southwestern Crowder’s Mtn, where we raise beef cattle, horses, cattle dogs, sheep, chickens, and produce. Work for us begins before the sun rises and ends long after sunset. Self-sufficiency and sustainability is what we work towards. I’m concerned not only for my family, but for our community and nation’s ability to prosper without striving for these goals. As a nation, we can’t continue to spend more than we can afford.

After a Tea Party trip to Washington, DC on Sept. 12, 2009 I came home with a plan. I got together with a group of fellow patriots and formed the Gaston County chapter of We The People. This group works hand in hand with the Tea Party to research issues at the local, state, & federal level. We believe in educating our members, the public, and elected officials on the real consequences of legislation & regulation, both good & bad.

I also served on the Gaston County Farm Forum Steering Committee to revise the Gaston County Farmland Protection Plan, which protects & preserves Gaston County’s farming future.

I believe in smaller government, less burdensome regulation, and less taxation.  With your help and your vote, we can reduce the impact government has on your life and your pocketbook.
